Passion and purpose fill Lillian’s daily life as she struggles to fit all of her endeavors into her schedule. She is a strong believer in the value of an individual. Her books, her poetry and her radio show all point towards the focus of celebrating the measurable impact the individual can have towards a healthier planet. At home, Lillian spends every moment possible in her gardens. She loves "playing in the dirt" and finds it brings her a form of therapy. "I feel like my mind settles and that I can look at my schedule, my life issues or communications in a more objective and positive manor." Lillian’s family has been members of Seeds of Diversity since its beginnings. This organization works with market gardeners, back yard gardeners and international seed banks to preserve genetic diversity for future generations. Through gardening, Lillian and her husband, Dave, have been able to donate seeds to community support centers and share food with friends and family.

Lillian and Dave, have been together for nearly 18 years and enjoy many of the same passions. They are both avid supporters of the SPCA, an animal rescue organization. Currently 2 rescued dogs and one rescued cat share their home. They have written 3 published books and manage both Drumit Percussion and the Conscious Discussions talk radio program. When the co-writing, business partners are not working, they can be found enjoying the wilderness that surrounds their community. Dave and Lillian enjoy low impact activities including biking, canoeing, hiking and snowshoeing. While out walking the dogs or enjoying the wilderness, the Brummets can often be spotted picking up litter along the way. When not involved in these activities, Lillian can be found with her nose buried in a book. As a book reviewer, she has been able to donate more than 700 books to the literacy organization and women’s support center in her community.

This being Refuse, Reduce, Reuse Then Recycle - before we even consider sending the item to the trash bin. Trash Talk focuses on the third R, Reuse, which also saves people a lot of money and provides a way to make a real and measurable contribution towards a healthier planet. The book provides a way for people to feel more positive in life and leave a lasting legacy.

Towards Understanding is a collection of 120 non-fiction poems is written in chronological order. It is a true story of a young pre-teen female growing up on her own, struggling to survive, breaking the chains of inner demons and finally growing towards understanding of her value & purpose in life - but not quite reaching it. Thus the title - Towards Understanding. The reason behind the book was to show other victims of abuse, violence and neglect that they can live a wholesome life without baggage from the past. Secondarly to that I wanted to provide a roadmap that showed the healing process that victims go through, letting others know they are not alone. People who are involved with victims can learn what that person is going through or will go through and therefore they might be able to provide a better support system.
