A big bear finds a note laying in the woods. The words mean nothing to him, but he takes it back to his cave. One day, in his walking, he wanders farther than normal from his cave. And he finds a clearing. In this clearing is a cabin. Outside the cabin is a lady with strange rectangular things. The bear starts visiting every day to watch the lady read, each day edging closer. One day, the lady is gone, but the books are laying there. So bear goes to the books, opens one, and finds it has the marks just like his note back in his cave. The lady catches him and he runs away. But the next day, she sees him again and invites him to listen to her read. Which is what the bear does-visit every day and have the lady read to him that summer. But Fall comes and the lady leaves. But she left her books so that while bear sleeps that Winter, he can hear her voice reading to him in his sleep. Children ages 5 to 8 will be thrilled with this book.
