When I received this book, it quickly became a favorite of Matthew's. He has wanted me to read it over and over again. Maybe it's the type that changes with the emotions and job of the garbage truck who "narrates" this book.

This garbage truck revels in the fact he stinks-because he does a job that is necessary even as its messy. The text highlights the sounds the truck makes and mimics the gruffness one might find from such a vehicle. And this truck works at night while little ones sleep! (Well, in the case of this book, anyway. I've seen many cities have daytime garbage pickup, but I guess it would ruin the tone of this book.)

The book doesn't state an age range, but Matthew is four and enjoys it. It would also be a good book for beginning readers.
