Many of us live in a "Dilbert World." To survive we need humor. One outlet is the infamous "Dilbert" cartoon strip-a strip that hits so close to home that several companies believed Scott Adams worked for them and attempted to find him on their payroll. Joe Heuer decides to re-define many terms we use in the workplace and in business. You will relate to many of them. A resume is "as close to perfection as you'll get." "Honesty" is a "quality you should always avoid when writing a resume." "Economics" is the "merger of finance with fortune telling." And, of course, "entrepreneurship" is "an excellent idea until you realize your employer will no longer pay you when you leave." Some are zingers, such as "yogurt" which has "considerably more culture than your boss. A weakness is that the terms aren't in alphabetical order. Or did the author do this as an attempt to "think outside the box?" Unfortunately, Mr. Heuer failed to provide a definition for that term. A new twist on an old adage is Joe Heuer's "insanity" definition: "stupidity laced with persistence." One can sign up to receive a daily business daffynition at Daffynitions.com. Mr. Heuer also does speaking gigs, so I guess he is a "freelancer" ("the politically correct title for someone who can't hold a job") and engaged in "self-employment" ("a time when you start to think of Oprah and Jerry Springer as colleagues"). This handy pocket book can be kept out of sight in your own cubicle to be read when you need a lift on those rough business days.
