I grew up reading the tales of Amelia Bedelia. The charm in these books is that Amelia is somewhat scatter-brained and not that bright. But a rocket scientist? It reminds me of the DJ who said he went to see the movie Apollo 13 and told his audience, "I know what went wrong. Forrest Gump was flying the spacecraft."

Well, Amelia believes she has been promoted. You see her employer, Mr. Rogers, asked: "What rocket scientist put my glasses in the dishwasher?" Well, Amelia did follow orders, as Mr. Rogers told her to put all the glasses in the dishwasher. Thus Amelia believes she is promoted. And she has volunteered to help the school science fair-what better timing!

Amelia, though, is late and apologizes. The teacher, Miss Edwards, announces she, too, was late. She was in a make-up test, to which Amelia says she deserves an "A" because her lip stick is perfect.

But the fun is just beginning as Amelia tries to help at the science fair. Fur-and hair, and UFOs and volcanic baking soda-will fly as Amelia tries to help the advance of science.

Children ages 6 and up will get a chuckle out of the misadventures of the naïve Amelia Bedelia.
