Clara Rinker is a hitwoman. She is the best in the business, but when she is hired for a job in Minnesota, things go wrong and she finds Lucas Davenport on her trail.

There are many loose ends and Rinker knows that these loose ends have to be cut. Davenport finds himself up against a dangerous killer, the best he has faced, and she knows his weak spots better than anyone else does.

This is a very interesting novel, different from the other ones in this series because he is up against two female killers, who are incredibly good at killing. The book has the usual thrills and spills that one comes to expect from a John Sandford novel, with an unexpected conclusion. The plot is basically an old one, slightly rehashed, but apart from that, it is very enjoyable. It is also very short and as such, is easy to read. It would be nicer to see a longer novel, but Sandford would have to be careful to make sure that it stayed meaty. This is very enjoyable and keeps Lucas Davenport as one of the top US cops. A good read.
