By now, everyone has heard about the tragic shooting at Columbine High School in Colorado. And together with the tragedy came the characterizations of the teens involved-the two shooters who were "loners" and the victims as "heros" and "martyrs."

What makes a hero? Does a hero have something the ordinary person doesn't have?

This book looks at one teen victim from Columbine, Cassie Bernthal. You will recall that Cassie's last words she heard were, "Do you believe in God?" Her last words that she spoke were, "Yes." She was shot within seconds.

Shortly after the tragedy, and upon hearing her daughter's courageous answer, Cassie's mother put together this book. In it we see a teen who has struggles. We don't see a "holy roller" spouting off her faith. In fact, in a note written the morning she was killed, Cassie questioned her dedication to her faith and felt she fell short of God's expectations. Yet, her faith did not waver even with a gun in her face.

The Bernthal parents also look at their own activity, especially in the raising of children. They mention that there is a sacrifice in parenting, especially in being firm with one's children. They question not only if they always do a good job, but also question whether parents today have the courage to discipline their children.

A good book, possibly one that could serve as a Bible study in studying a Christian's role in and effect upon society.
