An inspiring story for young girls, this tells the story of Gertrude "Gertie" "Trudy" Ederle, who became the first woman in 1926 to successfully swim across the English Channel. The book highlights the challenges presented to Trudy-even the societal challenge of "the woman's place." But her second effort across the Channel was successful.

Certainly a story for a young lady that you wish to inspire to reach her full potential. And, you know, boys can even learn about having dreams and pursuing them in this inspiring story.
