Alien Song is more than just a wonderful children's book - it comes with a music CD featuring a musical version of the book's text in lyrical form as well as other great original children's songs. Wes Jackson wrote the book and composed the music for this book and accompanying CD, and Dawn Marie Dunlavy provided the brightly colorful and kid-friendly illustrations.
Written in a rhyming poetic style and sung with a wonderful catchy cadence, Alien Song is about a boy who is awakened one night by an otherworldly yet friendly sound. He creeps out in his pajamas to the backyard where he discovers his tiny green visitors from another planet who put on a great concert just for him!
Also included in the book is a section featuring the Milestones of Space Flight, illustrating man's achievements in space from Sputnik 1 to the Hubble Telescope.
Both the book and the CD are wonderful in and of their own (in fact, as the mother of a young child, I can say with authority that the music alone would definitely appeal to young children!) but together they are even better, as the lyrics can definitely help kids to identify the words they see in the book, enabling them to learn how to read. I highly recommend this wonderful book and CD for children and families!
