A fresh look at the age old story of "Don't judge a book by its cover", Ambrosia is an adorable and fun narrative. Slated for readers aged 3-8, it is filled with characters based on various types of fruit who question a new arrival, the coconut.

The coconut must prove he is a fruit and in the process wins over those fruit members who are skeptical and unwelcoming. The cruel prejudices of the other fruits don't sway the coconut and this brown piece of produce jumps at the opportunity to educate others on his origins, his differences and his intentions.

Although the language might be too direct for some educators and parents, Ambrosia makes no apologies for taking the topic of color head on. It is a bold move that delivers excellent results. Young readers could greatly benefit from reading this charming story.
