The family cat is loved by every member of the family but no one can agree what Bootsy excels at. When the cat is playing with a ball of yarn Grandmother says, "Look at our Bootsy. She is a real clown."

Jeff agrees, "Yes! Bootsy is a great clown. She is the best clown in the world." Then Ginny responds, "Bootsy can't be a clown. She would be afraid of the bright lights and the loud applause."

The debate escalates as Bootsy is called a "real football star" by dad, a fisherman by grandfather and a ballerina by mom. Although she fits none of these roles, finally everyone agrees that Bootsy is "a great cat" and, indeed, "She is the best cat in the world!"

Charming illustrations accompany this picture book for children three years of age and older. Even if you are not familiar with the antics of a cat that provide the inspiration for this story, it is still a very entertaining read.
